The bellwether report, released publically on July 1, 2013, was prepared by noted analysts Deborah R. Wilson, Magnus Bergfors and Richard Adams, among the most seasoned experts in the field.
Among 29 different competitors reviewed by Gartner, Inc., GEP not only outpaced the great majority of firms with its leadership ranking, but bested nearly all comers in completeness of its vision in the strategic sourcing application suite category.
The strategic sourcing application suite includes an entire range of upstream procurement functionality including spend analysis, e-sourcing,contract management and supply base management.
These activities extend to “identifying suitable suppliers, finding savings opportunities, quantifying and reducing supply risk, negotiating and managing contracts, tracking ongoing supplier and category-level performance, and monitoring the overall success of the procurement team,” according to the report.
