At GEP, we celebrate the incredible women who lead with dedication, inspire change, and pave the way for future generations. In our She Shines Series, we spotlight remarkable women whose journeys exemplify resilience, leadership, and the pursuit of excellence.
Today, we’re proud to introduce you to Katie Hollenbeck, a Senior Manager in Consulting whose journey from college graduate to influential leader at GEP is nothing short of inspiring.
Finding Her Niche
Katie Hollenbeck’s journey with GEP began right after completing her undergraduate studies in management and marketing at NYU Stern School of Business. Like many graduates, she was eager to find a role where she could apply her skills in a meaningful way. Consulting became the perfect fit.
"I chose consulting because I wanted a role that balanced interpersonal and analytical skills. At GEP, I found the perfect place to start my career," Katie shares.
Specializing in marketing procurement, Katie has worked with clients across industries—from pharmaceuticals to technology.
Growing as a Leader
Katie’s promotion to Manager marked a pivotal moment in her career. It wasn’t just about a new title; it was about embracing the responsibilities of leadership.
"It was a proud moment for me. The weight of being responsible for others was a new challenge, but it was also incredibly rewarding," she reflects.
In her current role as a Senior Manager, Katie focuses on building strong client relationships, mentoring her team, and engaging with GEP’s broader initiatives. Each new project presents unique challenges, but Katie sees these as opportunities for growth.
"Every new project brings a steep learning curve, but that's one of the beauties of consulting. It keeps you from getting bored and constantly challenges you," she explains.
The Power of Mentorship
Mentorship has been a cornerstone of Katie’s success. From formal programs to informal connections, she credits her mentors for guiding her through key career milestones.
"I’ve had the privilege of having a mentor who advocates for me and helps me tackle challenges. The Women@GEP community has also been a tremendous source of support and inspiration," she shares.
Katie believes in paying it forward. She mentors two female colleagues through GEP’s formal program and supports others informally. "I want to be that person who helps others achieve their potential. It’s important to have someone in your corner," she emphasizes.
Leading by Example
Katie’s leadership extends beyond her immediate role. She recognizes the significance of being a woman in a leadership position, especially in consulting.
"Any opportunity I have to have a voice as a woman in leadership helps set the tone for others. I want to ensure that future generations of women have the support they need to succeed," she says.
Advice for the Next Generation
For women starting their careers, Katie shares this advice: "Get comfortable raising your hand. Speak up, ask questions, and volunteer for more. It’s essential to make your voice heard and show your willingness to learn and grow."
